1. JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY
About College :
Jadavpur University or JU as it more commonly known, is located in the
eastern metropolis of Kolkata in India. It is considered to be one of the
foremost centres of research and learning in India.
It has two campuses: the main campus at Jadavpur and the new campus at Salt
Lake, approximately 12.6 kilometres (7.8 mi) and 8.8 kilometres (5.5 mi) from
the city centre respectively. A third campus is due to open at the site of the
erstwhile National Instruments (CSIR India), opposite the main campus along the
Raja S.C. Mullick Road.
The university is organized into three faculties: Arts, Engineering and
Technology, and Science. It has a student body of approximately 9,000 including
undergraduate and postgraduate students.

From the BISHOP'S COLLEGE in the British Raj to Bengal Engineering College in
Independent INDIA and then to the status of a Deemed University and finally to a

3. COLLEGE OF CERAMIC TECHNOLOGY
About College :
Government College of Engineering & Ceramic Technology, GCE&CT (formerly College
of Ceramic Technology), was established in the Year 1941, by Professor Sasadhar
Ray, an eminent educationist of that time with the objective of imparting
knowledge and training for developing skilled technical manpower for serving the
Ceramic and Allied Industries.
GCE&CT is the oldest Ceramic College in India and one of the few colleges that
has got the opportunity to be headed by people who have got international
recognition. The college has reached its magnificence under the admirable
guidance of Principals like Prof. Sasadhar Ray (founder of the college), a
student of Prof. Satyen Bose (F.R.S.) and Prof. K. S. Krishnan (F.R.S.), and
Prof. (Dr.) B. N. Sammadar, who did his research work at M. I. T. (USA) and
worked together with Prof. (Dr.) W. D. Kingery (considered as Father of Modern
Ceramics). At present, the college is headed by Prof. (Dr.) P. G. Pal [Ph.D.
(Tech.) Calcutta University.
The immense success achieved by the college has also been reflected in the field
of campus recruitment of students. Presently, students of the college are
already being recruited from the 3rd Year of their B. Tech. Course. The stream
of Ceramic Technology undergoes 100% recruitment and that of IT and CSE has also
achieved commendable success in recent years. Renowned companies like Saint
Gobain Glass (India) Ltd., Jindal South West Steel Ltd., Essar Steel Ltd.,
Jindal Stainless Steel Ltd., Steel Authority of India Ltd., Grindwell Norton,
MECON, CUMI, Tata Refractories Ltd. et al. have already arrived at the college
for campus recruitment this year.

About College :
This is one of the Pioneer Colleges in Textile Education and represents an
86-years creed of creativity. It was formally known as College of Textile
Technology, Berhampore .Now, the college is under the administrative control of
the Directorate of Technical Education, Govt. of West Bengal and is affiliated
to West Bengal University of Technology. It is approximately 200 KM away from

5. COLLEGE OF LEATHER TECHNOLOGY
About College :
The College of Leather Technology, pioneer in the field of education and
research on Leather Technology was set up in the year 1919 on the recommendation
of Mutation Board immediately after the first World war with the aim of
exploiting indigenous resources of hides, skins and tanning materials for the
purpose of production of leather and leather goods and development of leather
industry in the country. Initially the institute was named as 'Calcutta Research
Tannery' and in the year 1926 the institute's name was changed to 'Bengal
Tanning Institute'. Subsequently the institute got the affiliation of the
'University of Calcutta' and introduced a Certificate Course in tanning. B.Sc.
(Tech) course in Leather Technology was introduced in 1955 and in 1958 the name
of the institute was again changed to 'College of Leather Technology'. Since
inception the institute has served the cause of the leather and allied industry
in various ways. Before the establishment of the college there were only 9
Chinese tanneries at Dhapa. With the setting up of the College a great boom in
the formation of the new industry particularly the leather sector followed. The
main service provided by the college to the industry during its 81 years of
experience was supply of technical manpower and technology development. Till
1999-2000, this college was a single faculty institution offering B.Tech. in
Leather Technology. From 1999-2000 following the direction of Govt. of West
Bengal the college started offering in addition to the former programme, 'B.Tech.
in Information Technology' and again from 2000-2001 another more discipline 'B.Tech.
in Computer Science & Technology' has started. These courses were also
integrated with 'Leather Technology'- the mother discipline. The Govt. has also
created new faculty positions to run the curriculum. The table shows our

6. INDIAN STATISTICAL INSTITUTE
About College :
Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) is a public research institute and university
in Kolkata's northern outskirt of Baranagar, India founded by Prasanta Chandra
Mahalanobis in 1931. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions
focused on Statistics, and its early reputation led it to being adopted as a
model for the first US institute of statistics set up at the Research Triangle,
North Carolina by Gertrude Mary Cox.[1] Its main activities are research and
teaching of Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science and other natural and
social sciences. Originally affiliated with the University of Calcutta, the
institute was declared an Institute of National Importance in 1959.
The main campus and headquarters is located in Baranagar, in suburban Kolkata.
The campuses at Kolkata, Delhi and Bangalore focus on teaching, and the
institute has offices in seven other locations like Hyderabad, India engaging in
consultancy in statistical process control and operations research. The Director
is Professor Bimal Kumar Roy and the Dean of Studies is Professor Bhabani Prasad
Sinha.
