Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 18, 2026
This policy describes how OneStopGATE ("we", "us", "the site") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit www.onestopgate.com. By using the site you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Information you give us — your name, email address, mobile number, and any message text when you fill in a form (contact, newsletter signup, account registration, comment, advertising enquiry).
- Automatic information — standard web access information your browser sends (IP address, browser type and version, device type, referring page, requested page, timestamp), retained briefly for security, abuse prevention, and aggregated analytics.
- Cookies and similar technologies — small data items stored in your browser. See the "Cookies" section below.
How we use information
- To operate the site and respond to your messages.
- To send you newsletters you have specifically opted in to receive.
- To maintain your member account, if you create one, and let you save preferences or post comments.
- To measure aggregated usage so we can improve content and navigation.
- To display advertising and measure ad performance — see the "Advertising" section below.
- To comply with law and protect against fraud or abuse of the site.
Cookies
We and our third-party partners use cookies and similar technologies in three broad categories:
- Essential — needed for the site to work. These include session cookies, security tokens, and your cookie-banner preference. These cannot be disabled while still using the site.
- Analytics — to count visits, sessions, and which pages are popular, so we can improve the site. We use Google Analytics for this. You can opt out of Google Analytics using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Advertising — to deliver advertising that is relevant to you and to measure ad performance. We work with Google AdSense / Google Ads and other third-party ad networks. These partners may set cookies on your device when you visit the site.
You can manage advertising cookies any time using:
- Google's Ads Settings — adssettings.google.com
- YourAdChoices (DAA) — youradchoices.com
- Your Online Choices (EDAA) — www.youronlinechoices.com
- Your browser's cookie settings, where you can block or clear cookies entirely
Advertising
OneStopGATE is supported by advertising. We display ads from Google (Google AdSense / Google Ads) and may from time to time work with other reputable third-party advertising networks. These partners may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites, and to measure the performance of those ads.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Third-party vendors' use of cookies is governed by their own privacy policies.
Newsletters and email
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect only your email address and (optionally) your name. We send newsletters with GATE notifications, syllabus updates, and content roundups. Every newsletter email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also email us via the contact page to be removed.
We use a reputable third-party email delivery service to send these emails. Your email address is shared with that service solely for the purpose of delivering the newsletter you requested.
Member accounts
If you register an account, we store your name, email address, and a hashed (one-way encrypted) password. We never store your password in plain text. You can update or delete your account at any time from the "My profile" page. Deleting your account removes your account record and personally identifying information from our active database.
Comments and user-generated content
When you post a comment we store the name and email you provide and your IP address. Email addresses are not displayed publicly. Comments are moderated before they appear on the site.
Third-party links
The site contains links to external resources — official IIT syllabus PDFs, NPTEL lectures, PSU careers pages, retailer book pages, and others. Once you follow an external link, the destination site's privacy policy applies, not ours.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed with service providers that help us run the site (for example, our email delivery service, analytics provider, and advertising partners), and only as necessary for those services to function. We may also disclose information when required by law.
Data retention
We keep form submissions and account data for as long as we may reasonably need them, or until you ask us to delete them. Access logs are retained for a short period for security purposes. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To exercise any of these rights, email us via the contact page. We aim to respond within 14 days.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the appropriate data protection authority in your jurisdiction.
Children
The site is intended for engineering graduates and undergraduates. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No transmission over the Internet is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Use a strong, unique password for your account and do not share it with anyone.
International users
The site is operated from India and primarily targets Indian users. By using the site, you consent to the transfer of your information to India, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the latest version. Material changes are highlighted on the home page for at least 14 days. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the revised policy.
